The transplant team has selected the donor for Tyler!  Between the two 10 out of 10 matches, a 43-year-old man from Europe (still don’t know what country) proved to be the best match.  He does not have the same blood type, so Ty’s blood type will actually change to that of his donor’s after the transplant.  The other candidate was a female who had given birth, and apparently this makes her a better match for a female and not a male.

The thought now is that the donor marrow will be harvested in early January.  The exact timing will depend on when Tyler starts his 8-day pre-transplant chemo course.  Since the marrow will have to be flown from Europe to BWI and needs to be infused into Tyler while it’s fresh, everything has to be planned down to the last detail.  It’s not too early to start praying that all goes very smoothly!  I know for a fact that I’m going to be praying for this wonderful, wonderful man!  We can’t wait to meet him some day!
