Tyler continues to improve. The past two days, we were kind of shocked at how difficult it was for Tyler to start walking again. He actually could barely even stand. After a blood transfusion and a bolus, today he walked from one side of the room to the other, and did great! Later this afternoon we plan to venture down to the hospital gift store so Tyler can do some Christmas shopping. We’ll bring the wheelchair along, but Tyler will try to walk as much as possible.
The other “work” Tyler has to focus on is eating and drinking. His throat is still sore, his appetite is still absent, and he cannot taste well. But, to get off TPN, he has to get enough nutrition by mouth. For 3 days, we’ve been tracking all of Tyler’s calories, and we just found out today that this evening Tyler will be able to be disconnected from his TPN for four hours. Being free of his IV pole means a LOT to Tyler.
