Tests have been conducted but are not shedding any light on Tyler’s worsening lung function. They thought perhaps they would have to drain some fluid from his lungs, but an ultrasound revealed no extra fluid. So now they’re left really not knowing why his ventilation settings won’t keep the CO2 from building in his blood. His oscillator settings are much higher now than they’ve been in a while, but his blood gases continue to remain poor.
We learned today that the treatment he’s been receiving for his Idiopathic Pneumonia Syndrome should have garnered much more improvement after the first week – Tyler started the treatment a little over two weeks ago and has likely already received any “bump” he’s going to from it. They don’t think this is from organ failure because his liver and kidneys continue to improve. They’re not even convinced it’s from irreversible lung damage, because his oxygenation is pretty good. So that leaves some kind of other virus or infection that would be making his lungs sicker. Please pray they can find and treat the source and/or that God just heals those lungs!
