The see saw continues. Ty had a terrible night. One crisis after another meant he wasn’t able to get blood products when he needed them and even ran out of one of his sedatives at one point. A serious issue is that one of his PICC line lumens is now clogged, so he needs another PICC surgically placed. In the meantime he can’t receive nutrition and some other meds since blood, sedatives, and antibiotics take priority with the lines they have left.

Earlier last night Tyler’s blockage resolved and his red counts rose (hence my “glimmer of good things” post), but then dipped very low again overnight.

Despite everything, God hasn’t changed. He is still in control, as He has been all along. In my human state, however, I’m feeling about as weary as I’ve ever felt on this journey.

Ty’s been in the PICU for 6 1/2 weeks now. Before that he was very ill on the 8th floor, and I was spending every day and night with him. I’ve reached the point in this marathon where I just want to collapse. I guess this means I’m about to get my second wind.

I know as folks pray for Tyler, they also pray for Ron, Michelle, and me. Throughout the lows and highs, disappointments and victories, I can’t tell you how much we’ve felt those prayers! I’m confident God is healing Tyler, and I will press on no matter what! I have God’s promises in Scripture, a loving support system, and thousands of people near and far who keep praying! And I can’t forget I have a son who is the weariest of all and keeps on fighting!

John Waller’s song “While I’m Waiting” expresses my thoughts and emotions right now. You can listen to it on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bb7TSGptd3Y&feature=list_related&playnext=1&list=AL94UKMTqg-9BHwggVBtHjhHu_QtfbVXrf

I’m waiting
I’m waiting on You, Lord
And I am hopeful
I’m waiting on You, Lord
Though it is painful
But patiently, I will wait

I will move ahead, bold and confident
Takeing every step in obedience
While I’m waiting
I will serve You
While I’m waiting
I will worship
While I’m waiting
I will not faint
I’ll be running the race
Even while I wait

I’m waiting
I’m waiting on You, Lord
And I am peaceful
I’m waiting on You, Lord
Though it’s not easy
But faithfully, I will wait
Yes, I will wait

I will serve You while I’m waiting
I will worship while I’m waiting
I will serve You while I’m waiting
I will worship while I’m waiting
I will serve you while I’m waiting
I will worship while I’m waiting on You, Lord
