Tyler’s multi organ involvement is getting worse. One organ is affecting the performance of the next. His echocardiogram yesterday revealed that his left ventricle is only performing at 22% capacity. This affects his lungs and liver. His kidneys have had minimal to no output for 24 hours, not responding to diuretics.

Today they will ultrasound his kidneys to see if he has a clot, or if his kidneys lacked enough blood to oxygenate them. Because they are not functioning, he has retained 7 liters of fluid, which in turn impacts the already struggling organs. It’s a vicious cycle.

Even though there has been some slowing of his bleeding, this cycle of damage can’t be interrupted until the bleeding actually stops. Medically, it needs to stop before his organs sustain too much permanent damage. God doesn’t have that limitation, but I have to admit, the not knowing is getting more and more brutal for Ron and me.

We started exactly 7 weeks ago in the PICU with lung, liver and kidney concerns. Eventually his lungs became the only concern. After God amazingly saved his lungs 13 days ago, his GI tract became the primary threat to his survival. Now, he still has the GI issues, but we are back to other organs being in trouble, and this time his heart has joined the mix.

They seem to have found the right formula of blood products and blood pressure medication to keep Tyler from constantly crashing, but this time saying he is “stable” isn’t quite the same.

Ron and I need prayers for some serious wisdom and guidance. We understand the need to take care of our bodies, but lately we are needed too frequently for decisions and discussions to really get away from the hospital to sleep. Tyler needs prayers for nothing less than a complete healing!
