A few weeks before his diagnosis of acute myeloid leukemia, 14-year-old Tyler McGinn was having fun playing around with creating a vlog with one of his school friends. He and his friend were great fans of Toby Turner’s (Tobuscus) vlogs. Tyler never got to film more since he was hospitalized weeks later and ultimately died on 3/29/12.
A few explanations about the vlog:
- The red chew stick he talks about is an orthodontic device he had to use since he hadn’t been wearing his retainer.
- The Japanese restaurant he didn’t want to “sponsor” was J & Y Tokyo Market in Sykesville, Maryland.
- His parents were rarely ever mad at him and loved him for the self-described freak he was.
- The book he referenced was assigned for summer reading before 10th grade: Animal Farm by George Orwell.
