Since Tyler has continued to carry a low grade fever, he had a CT scan with contrast of his sinuses, lungs and abdomen yesterday to see what other possible infections may be hiding in there.  The scan showed possible areas for concern in all three locations.  Today ENT scoped his sinuses (not very pleasant for him), and we’re waiting to hear the results of the swab they took.  Thankfully, they didn’t see anything visually scary up there – he probably just has Sinusitis and needs a separate antibiotic for that.  The spots on his lungs were deemed too inconsequential for any follow up at this point.  They will do a repeat scan sometime soon to take another look at the fluid buildup they found in his abdomen.  From what I understand, the thing they really worry about when someone’s neutropenic is fungal infections.  So far, it’s looking pretty good that Tyler does not have this.

Thankfully, Tyler got some sleep last night – still plagued by GI issues, but not as badly as previous nights.  He got a nebulizer treatment yesterday which really seemed to help with his cough, so he will get nebs on a regular basis now.

Tyler picked up with his tutoring again today, and our fingers are crossed that maybe this week he can keep his regular school schedule for all 5 days.  It’s been many weeks since he’s been able to tolerate a full week of tutoring.  We know there will be many difficult days ahead after Christmas break when his bone marrow transplant course begins, so we’d like to squeeze in as much tutoring as possible now.
