Tyler hasn’t had any real significant changes – the bronchoscopy yesterday did end up causing some vent settings to be increased, but they’re all back down now.  His current settings, while improved from the day they told us Tyler would need a miracle, are still considered very high.  The goal today is to try to wean a little more and see how he does.  So far he hasn’t tolerated any further weaning.  But a stable day is still better than a crisis-oriented day.  They continue to warn us Tyler would not likely survive an serious drop in blood pressure or oxygen at this point, so please pray that he at least remains stable until his lungs can heal.  Improvement is also needed as the longer he is on the vent, the more permanent damage to his lungs.  No results back yet from his bronchoscopy – it takes a while for cultures to grow.  Chest x-rays are showing his lungs are not getting worse.  The dialysis is pulling off a lot of his excess fluid, enough so that yesterday he finally started getting IV nutrition again.
