When Tyler was home over Christmas, he was feeling better every day. He was very aware that when he went back to the hospital on 1/17, he would be getting much sicker again. I suggested that “healthy Tyler” create an iTunes playlist for “sick Tyler” that would encourage him when he needed encouragement the most. Tyler chose 20 songs and titled the playlist, “When I am Weak.” We have been playing this for him throughout the days and hoping some of the message makes it through to him during this time when he certainly is at his weakest. As I listen to the songs and feel strengthened myself, I am in awe of my strong, strong boy and his even stronger faith.

One song Tyler chose is Always, by Kristian Stanfill. The words are just perfect. If you want to listen to it, it’s a powerful song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hN7L3m9jIcc

My foes are many, they rise against me,
But I will hold my ground!
I will not fear the war,
I will not fear the storm:
My help is on the way, my help is on the way!

Oh, my God, He will not delay
My refuge and strength always
I will not fear, His promise is true
My God will come through always, always

Troubles surround me, chaos abounding
My soul will rest in You
I will not fear the war,
I will not fear the storm
My help is on the way, my help is on the way

Oh, my God, He will not delay
My refuge and strength always
I will not fear, His promise is true
My God will come through always, always

I lift my eyes up,
my help comes from the Lord
I lift my eyes up,
my help comes from the Lord
I lift my eyes up,
my help comes from the Lord
I lift my eyes up,
my help comes from the Lord
From You Lord, from You Lord

Oh, my God, He will not delay
My refuge and strength always
I will not fear, His promise is true
My God will come through always, always

Oh, my God, He will not delay
My refuge and strength always, always
