Tyler is worse today, and we’re praying this isn’t the beginning of the possible downward spiral the doctors told us about when kids stay on an oscillator too long. He seems to have yet another new lung infection. His right upper lobe has recollapsed, and both his lungs are now looking more hazy with diffuse fluid on x-ray. A pan culture revealed copious amounts of infection-fighting white cells which are causing more inflammation.
His CO2 gases worsened overnight, so he is up on all vent settings again. This means he cannot have his bronchoscopy. His legs are swollen, so they are checking them for clots as well. If they do find clots, they cannot treat them as his stomach continues to bleed. They have gone up on all the sedatives as well as the paralytic, so at least he appears comfortable. Tyler really, really needs healing, and he needs it now!
