Ty continues to be stable, but with a LOT of work on the team’s part. In addition to the amicar to help stop his bleeding, he got another treatment of Factor VII yesterday. Later today the amicar will be replaced with tranexamic acid, which is more powerful than amicar. He’s had some ventilator issues – it seems his beautifully improving lungs are getting crowded by his enlarged stomach. His trend last night and today has been to need slightly less blood products, so that’s encouraging. They are still trying to solve the dilemma of keeping Tyler comfortably sedated and will tweak that some more today. The sedation issues are the hardest of all to deal with for those by his side. He fights so hard against the sedation, but no one wants him to suffer the terrible pain caused by such a distended stomach. And bleeding is not usually painless. The clogged PICC line will be revisited tomorrow by the PICC team.
