On Tuesday, September 6, 2011, Tyler came home from his first day of 10th grade feeling tired. Later that evening, he spiked a fever of 104. After running tests in the ER, the doctor entered the room, looked at Tyler’s mom with kind eyes, and said, “I have some very bad news for you. Tyler has leukemia.”

A few hours later Tyler was admitted to the pediatric oncology floor at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. Ty’s diagnosis of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) would require aggressive chemotherapy and extensive hospitalizations. When later testing revealed Tyler had an unthinkable combination of the rarest and deadliest subtypes of AML, any chance of survival depended on a bone marrow transplant.

Tyler’s courageous fight over nearly seven months inspired thousands. His humor, faith, and determination changed lives. This website is a tribute to a young boy’s life, ended on March 29, 2012, at the age of 15 years and 5 months. It is a forum for strangers and loved ones alike to share Tyler’s impact on their lives. It is a place of hope for those who are currently suffering through a trial or grieving a loss. It is an opportunity for joy to those who choose to live and love like Tyler.
