How fitting that to mark the two-month anniversary of Tyler’s initial admission to Hopkins with AML, we find out that Tyler has a SECOND perfectly matched bone marrow donor!  This lets the transplant team choose carefully between the two donors, possibly eliminating auto-immune disorders such as eczema or anything more serious the donors may have.  We are sooooo happy!   Also on the happy front, Tyler’s mucositis is getting measurably better!  Praise God for that!

While you celebrate with us, please also pray for several requests.  First, that they can find the source of Tyler’s increasing fever.  Today he had a CT scan with contrast to determine if he has a fungal infection.  We should hear the results tomorrow morning. Another primary concern is the spreading angry red rash he has all over his body, as well as the blisters on his palms and soles.  They are quite sure the blisters are from the sorafenib (which has been discontinued temporarily), but are now wondering if the red rash may be a reaction to a new antibiotic he started on 11/1.

In addition to the physical suffering he’s enduring, Tyler says he feels “hideous” due to his weight loss, the disfiguring rash, as well as finally losing his eyelashes and those signature bushy eyebrows.  And while he longs just to be left alone in his misery, his new symptoms only require an increasing number of specialists to parade through his room throughout the day.  Two months of this ordeal is taking a real toll on our son’s spirit.
