Please be praying that everything comes together today and tomorrow for Tyler’s transplant. We don’t know the exact timing of anything since the collection is happening in Europe, and the stem cells then have to be flown to Maryland, delivered to Hopkins and treated in the Hopkins lab before making it up to Ty’s hospital room. It will likely happen later in the evening.
- Pray that Tyler’s donor, a 43-year-old European man, will experience as little discomfort and pain as possible from the collection and aftermath.
- Pray that they will be able to collect enough stem cells from the donor to supply Tyler with what he needs.
- Pray that the transport of the donated bone marrow from Europe to BWI to Johns Hopkins all goes off without a hitch and that Tyler can get the transfusion within the necessary time limits. Talk about precious cargo!
- Pray that once the stem cells arrive at JHH, the lab will be able to successfully remove the red cells since Tyler and his donor have different blood types.
- Pray that the 8 days of chemo Tyler has had will have killed off enough residual leukemia cells in his blood and marrow, so that the donor cells can fight off what’s left.
- Pray that the actual transfusion goes smoothly, and that Tyler will not have an immediate allergic reaction to the cells.
I’m sure I’ve missed some steps, but this is all my tired mind could come up with. Tyler had a rough night again – not from nausea, but from itching all over and just feeling bad from the chemo and all the other drugs he’s taking.
