Tyler was pretty miserable today. He’s just sick and tired of being sick and tired. We thought he was starting to feel better, but then he spent the afternoon retching from his mucositis. His blood pressures dropped very low right about the same time he spiked another high fever. To treat the blood pressure, he had to be given extra fluids. This is bad for his liver, but the need to get his pressures back up trumped the liver issue. Since whatever is infecting his body right now is causing the low pressures, they will be adding Gentamicin soon.
Regarding his liver, thankfully no new symptoms have developed. His bilirubin levels dropped very slightly. The docs were not very excited about such a small drop, but at least it’s going in the right direction. Tyler’s eyes and skin took on a yellow hue today from the elevated levels. They will continue to monitor his bilirubin each day, and if it trends down will consider getting him started on TPN.
