With the help of morphine, Tyler was able to sleep on and off last night. He’s a little strung out today, but it was good to get some sleep, even if drug induced. His fever drifted back and forth between low to high. The doctor this morning said it’s not unusual for transplant kids to maintain a fever for days.
Level wise, his liver levels went down slightly (good) and his kidney levels went up slightly (bad). Because his liver levels haven’t been on the continual rise, they are planning to start some IV nutrition tonight, as long as his sodium levels go up. So Tyler’s goal is to push past the pain and drink some Gatorade today. Tyler was due for his last of four doses of Methotrexate today (a chemo that helps prevent graft versus host disease), but they may not give it to him since it can be tough on the liver. Everything is such a delicate balance, and we are so thankful he has a top notch medical team making these decisions!
