Overnight, Tyler was able to sustain the weaning he had yesterday! For those familiar with oscillators, he went from a Delta p of 77 to one of 64, and a Hz of 5 to a Hz of 6 in a 24-hour period. He’s holding at the new settings, but his blood gases are a little on the edge this morning, so he may go up a little bit depending on what happens. They would like to give him a double lumen PICC line today in addition to the double lumen Hickman he already has in order to give them more access for all the meds he needs. This would enable them to take the IVs out of his hands and feet.
The issue is the only arm they can use is the one covered in healing blisters and damaged skin. Not sure what will happen there. Another issue is they’re having some difficulty sedating Tyler due to the hospital running out of his Versed and having to replace it with something that doesn’t seem as effective. Please pray Tyler can be adequately sedated so he can remain comfortable and that his blood gases improve so they can keep weaning him!
