Well, we knew it was a possibility, and sure enough, on day 10 of this hospitalization, Tyler’s mucositis is back. Later today he will be getting a pain pump so he can at least tolerate drinking. Right now his tongue and throat hurt too much to either eat or drink. Compared to yesterday, he is much weaker today since he’s now neutropenic and not getting much nutrition. Despite the pain, it’s not at all as severe as last time at this point, so we still have hope that he will only have to deal with the pain and not the mucous secretions. He continues to lose weight each day, so he’s probably not far away from getting TPN again (nutrition through his central line).
Also, Tyler’s rash is spreading just a little bit each day, and he is developing a blister on his hand, so they are keeping the sorafenib at half dose rather than working back up to full dose. Thanks for your continued prayers!
