Tyler’s collapsed lung looked much better on x-ray this morning, and his O2 sats are on the rise! His left lung is showing some overall improvement as well! He will remain on the higher airway pressure until he can sustain his O2 levels and until the next x-ray shows the lobe has been fully reinflated.

Also, they decided to remove the catheter that was placed in his femoral artery for the dialysis. They hadn’t wanted to remove it right away after going off dialysis in case his kidneys wouldn’t do well on their own. But this was balanced against the risk of infection with the line staying in. We are very relieved it’s being removed – that means his kidneys are getting better and that he has one less source of infection leading into his body! His bilirubin levels rose slightly again today. It’s possible that being on IV nutrition is harming his liver, which isn’t good, but it’s a better scenario than his VOD getting worse, so we’ll take it!
