Late yesterday they disconnected Tyler from the CRRT (dialysis) to see how his kidneys would do on their own. Initially, he ended up being 2 liters positive (his kidneys weren’t getting rid of enough fluid on their own). After being given Lasix, he ended up 1 liter negative (too much fluid came off). Possibly this up and down trauma for his body caused the scare he had this morning.
While being suctioned, Tyler went into crisis. His O2 sats dropped, his blood pressure crashed, and staff piled into his room to help him. By giving him emergency meds and increasing his settings vastly, Tyler stabilized from this crisis, but is still at the higher settings. Tyler has never had any kind of negative reaction from suctioning, so this is certainly very concerning. He has two top notch respiratory therapists working with him today, determined to figure out what to do. Tyler can’t continue on his current course as there isn’t much more they can do at this point with his settings should he have another crisis.
Yesterday someone posted this verse on our CaringBridge guestbook:
When I said, “My foot is slipping,” your love, O Lord, supported me. When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul. Psalm 94:18-19
I am also claiming the Ephesians verse I’ve posted before:
God is able to do far more than we would ever dare to ask or ever dream of – infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts or hopes! Ephesians 3:20
